@Mr. Mechano: databases can easily be converted to utf-8, we can't continue supporting something like mysql 3 cause we've not enough resources to do that. anyway having different charsets it's not possible because you should convert p4a translation files from utf-8 to your charset before using a non-utf8 encoded database. this is something i wouldn't suggest to no one. another thing is that p4a 2 has charset support but no one uses that and it's actually unsupported so... the best thing you can do is provide supported features, everyone should migrate to uft-8 because that's the future and it's just a matter of an iconv line of code :-)

About this feature.

- P4A_I18N does not manage charset anymore, only UTF-8 will be supported from now on

What about if the data on database has different charset and/or collation?
Does p4a execute translation between the web representation and the database's data?

Sincerely.
Roberto (Mr. Mechano)

I downloaded a copy of Ubuntu, expecting it to be fully translated into English. Everything was translated to English except the name! So it's not only non-English translations that are incomplete :-)

Yes.. Why not if a good repartition of mirrors servers is possible and if ubuntu/kubuntu's locales websites are more structured each others...
You can also add your idea in the ubuntu launchpad...

Totally agree with you. Same situation here in Norway,
many distroes Ubuntu included has a lot to do with regards
to localisation and translation of apps and the distro itself.
--If only the "language-pack" could have been a system-wide
package that took care of all of that, it would have made it much
easyer for the different distroes to be multilingual then.-- (IMHO)

Happy New Year. :-)
